Autmun. Early.

A pre-sunrise start seemed like a good idea right up until the pre-sunrise alarm on the coldest day of the year so far. However the slight hint of snow fall as we bundled out of the car in the gloom of dawn cheered me up and we headed into the arboretum.
The predicted clear skies didn't look like they were going to materialise for a while, but the soft light and the cold breeze made for a few interesting options. So did the geese.
Eventually though, the tops of the trees stared to brighten and glow as the sun finally made an appearance. The boathouse on the pond was, as usual, a handy point of reference in the frame. There hasn't been a full frost yet, the extra green in the trees helps to add a little more depth to the autumn colours and textures.
With an obligatory "Winkworth shot" covered, I wandered into the woods to look for some fungus. But more about that later...
